Project Joy!

Glorify Dance Theatre spread some JOY in the fall of 2020 by creating dances of hope and encouragement, filmed throughout the West Chester community.  Using songs primarily by local musicians, we were excited collaborate and create art together.

“Break of Dawn”

“Break of Dawn” is performed by our full company and features the music of Angela Burns Music, from her album “Deeper Than The Blue”.

This piece focuses on the beauty and glory of God’s love for us. Choreographically, it pulls on motif repetition which is representative of the every day activities we go about, while simultaneous phrases break away from the pattern drawing our attention to individual moments in time with God.

“Overflow”

“Overflow” is performed by our Preparatory Company and features the music of Angela Burns Music, from her album “Deeper Than The Blue”.
This piece focuses on the constant presence of God’s love in our life. Choreographically, it uses rises and falls to showcase the paths our lives take, with fluid movement as a reminder that God is always near, and will never leave us.

“Peace”

“Peace” is performed by our Preparatory Company and features the music of Kat Gaffney, from her EP, Song In The Night.

“Peace” is an encouragement to keep our eyes fixed on Christ and choose to worship even when things feel like they’re going all wrong.

“Yahweh”

“Yahweh” is performed by our 1st and 2nd Soloists and Corps de Ballet and features the music of Danni Peace.
As a stand-alone dance, “Yahweh” encourages our hearts be stirred by the beauty and majesty of our Savior – “Alpha and Omega, beginning and the end, Lord of all creation…” and bring Him praise.
Choreographically, this piece pulls loosely from traditional movements of worship -such as raised arms and bowed bodies – to express awe and joy in praise of God.

“Overwhelmed”

“Overwhelmed” is performed by our Soloists and features the music of Kat Gaffney, from her EP, Song In The Night.

Thank you to our sponsor for this videos: Luma Learn, a homeschool marketplace for online classes taught from a Christian worldview.

“Overwhelmed” reminds us that even when life is hurtful or we feel inadequate, God can overwhelm us with His mercy and grace. Through circular motions, the phrases in this dance show how there is no start or end to God’s willingness to love us, His children.

“When They Find Us”

Sponsored by: Master Key Organizing “Master Key Organizing comes alongside you – discovering the key to how you think and interact with your necessities and clutter (ahem…former treasures) – to sort, organize, and simply make your life and work easier.”

“When They Find Us” is performed by 1st Soloist, Emily Bronkema, to the live accompaniment of Benson Music.

This piece centers around the idea that as believers, Jesus should be so woven in our hearts that in every circumstance in our life the outpouring of this connection of our soul to God’s would give people a glimpse of Him and their own hearts would desire to seek the Lord. The choreography flows in and out of the lyrics, with movements that are on and off balance representing moments in life that feel in/out of control; spiral and circular movements creating a visual representation of events that repeat consistently making every day move forward; and a motion of looking at the hand then looking up as it opens to the side as a way that we see ourselves made in the image of God which reminds us to keep our gaze on Christ.

“Song In The Night”

“Song In The Night” is performed by our whole company and features the music of Kat Gaffney, from her EP, Song In The Night.

This piece is a powerful reminder that God is with us, and therefore we have nothing to fear. When we are in the midst of a battle and feel alone, we only need to lift up our eyes. Using line formations combined with strong and fluid movements, the choreography emotes feelings varying from confidence to insecurity all the while clinging to the power of Christ.
