Project Joy!
Glorify Dance Theatre has decided to spread some JOY this fall by creating dances of hope and encouragement, filmed throughout the West Chester community. Using songs primarily by local musicians, we are excited to be collaborating to create art together.
We will be sharing our dances with you through our email newsletter (sign up below!) and on our social media pages (@glorifyperformingarts) and on this page of our website! Our professional company will be developing 5 pieces and our Preparatory Company will create 2. Feel like you’re going to want to see more? Become a member! Members will be getting an exclusive video from each company that will not be released to the public.
“Break of Dawn”
“Overflow”
“Peace”
“Peace” is an encouragement to keep our eyes fixed on Christ and choose to worship even when things feel like they’re going all wrong.
“Yahweh”
“Overwhelmed”
Thank you to our sponsor for this videos: Luma Learn, a homeschool marketplace for online classes taught from a Christian worldview.
“Overwhelmed” reminds us that even when life is hurtful or we feel inadequate, God can overwhelm us with His mercy and grace. Through circular motions, the phrases in this dance show how there is no start or end to God’s willingness to love us, His children.
“When They Find Us”
“Song In The Night”
This piece is a powerful reminder that God is with us, and therefore we have nothing to fear. When we are in the midst of a battle and feel alone, we only need to lift up our eyes. Using line formations combined with strong and fluid movements, the choreography emotes feelings varying from confidence to insecurity all the while clinging to the power of Christ.
YOU'RE invited to join the Initiative!
Join the fun and bring life to your community by filming your own dance to share! Projecting Joy can be done anywhere, so find some music that makes you smile, create a dance, and post it using the hashtag #projectjoywithGPA!
Congratulations to Ciara Cicalese, the winner of our Project Joy completion!
