Bouncing Back

As Christians, we know that following Jesus doesn’t make us immune to pain, sorrow, loss, or hardship. Scripture is full of stories of struggle, but also of perseverance, faith, and surrender. Jesus never promised that life on this side of heaven would be easy; in fact, He said the opposite. John 16:33 reminds us: “Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world” (NLT). Yes! Jesus has overcome the world. What incredible, life-changing news.

A Ballerina’s Guide to Being Graceful

Ballerinas are regarded as the epitome of gracefulness. The dictionary defines gracefulness as “pleasing or attractive in line, proportion, or movement.” We ballerinas move effortlessly, perfectly, with a kind of fluidity that makes it appear as though gravity doesn’t affect us, as though the very laws of physics don’t control us. Or at least, we’re supposed to.

Trust the One Leading the Dance

Imagine you are dancing with a partner you don’t really know or fully trust, and whom you are trying to lead in the steps, even though they are in the leader role. I bet there would be some toes stepped on, disconnected movements, and an overall sense of confusion for both partners. Now imagine being partnered with someone who you trust completely, who knows every next step, and you yield to their leading. This type of partnership is able to work as a peaceful and strong unit, and it frees both partners to enjoy the dance fully. Trusting in God is like this latter partnership, and our upcoming show, Leaning Back, encourages us to sync ourselves with God’s heart for us.
