Auditioning for Glorify Dance Theatre's Trainee Program

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for Glorify Dance Theatre’s Trainee Program! GDT is a Christian, professional contemporary ballet company in West Chester, PA and we are seeking a diverse group of ballet dancers to take part in our Christian ballet trainee auditions, giving aspiring professionals the opportunity of training and performing with Glorify Dance Theatre.

Glorify Dance Theatre Trainee Program Auditions

Are you a dedicated dancer with a heart for Christ? Then, Glorify Dance Theatre invites you to audition for our Trainee Program! This program offers intensive training and exceptional performance opportunities within a faith-based environment.

Audition Process:

First, submit your application between December 1st and May 15th for the season beginning that September. For priority consideration, including a live audition on March 19, 2026, submit your application by March 12th. Following that date, applications will still be considered for private auditions.

Program Highlights:

Comprehensive Training: Elevate your technique and performance skills through daily technique classes, specialized Monday and Friday Trainee classes, and rehearsals alongside our professional Company Artists.
Performance Experience: Gain invaluable performance artistry by understudying and regularly performing in our MainStage and school tour productions.
Spiritual Growth: Nurture your faith through daily Bible study and community with fellow believers.
Professional Development: This one- or two-year program prepares you for a professional career. Upon completion, you will be considered for available Apprentice or Corps de Ballet positions with Glorify Dance Theatre. Furthermore, we will assist you in auditioning for other companies.

Qualifications:

Solid classical ballet training and proficiency in classical, contemporary, and neoclassical choreography are essential. Additionally, female dancers must demonstrate pointe work proficiency, and male dancers should possess basic partnering skills.
A personal commitment to faith in Christ Jesus, coupled with an active desire for spiritual growth, is required.
Applicants must have graduated from high school by the program’s start date and should be no older than 23, unless special permission is granted by the Artistic Director.

Program Details:

The program runs from September to May (30 weeks of rehearsals/performances) with breaks at Thanksgiving, Christmas/early January, and Easter.
The schedule is Monday-Friday, encompassing ballet, pointe, contemporary, Bible Study, Jazz, and rehearsal.
Tuition is $425 per month for 8 months (covering all classes, security clearances, and costumes).
Dancers are responsible for housing (suggestions are available for those relocating to West Chester).
Part-time work or college classes are possible outside the program; however, the Trainee Program must be your priority.

Finally, casting decisions are made at the discretion of the Artistic Director and audition panel, based on available program spots and the artistic vision for the season.

To apply for our Trainee Program, please prepare the materials listed below. Once you have prepared these materials, please submit them according to the instructions provided. Following receipt of all your application materials, GDT will notify you by email regarding whether or not you have been invited to the in-person audition on March 19, 2026.

Incomplete audition inquiries will not be considered.

The application requires the following materials:

Instructions for audition video: At the barre, include excerpts of plié, dégagé, fondu, ronds de jambe, grand battement. In the center, demonstrate an adagio, pirouette combination(s) rotating en dehors and en dedans, petit allegro, and grand allegro. All center work should be en pointe. Then, include a performance of a contemporary ballet piece of choreography. (Please clearly indicate which dancer you are if it is a group piece.) Post your video on an online platform (YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, etc.) to share with us.
